A Web Strategy should be part of your marketing plan or business plan. How you are going to "monetize" or make money from your web site should be integral in your web design. Some small businesses and non-profits still maintain a web site that is little more than a brochure. Most web sites cost money to set up, money to maintain and many web designers do not build sites based upon a value proposition to make money. The web site may not be integrated into the business plan or the marketing plan. Look at your web designer's site. Do the designs demonstrate an ability to make money from the site? Are you offered the same opportunity?
With the correct web strategy, defined and measurable goals, a web site that is maintained correctly should reach it's objectives each year of operation, as the other revenue sources in the business plan. Some people incorporate their own proprietary information (Ebooks, classes, scripts, designs) with sales for affiliates, GoogleAds or similar programs, Ebay auctions and sales. The web site can add a new dimension to any marketing plan.
